ca. 45 min., music performance/ video installation, 2016 - in cooperation with Silke Strahl
Discussions with female soloists and conductors of the classical music scene about their experiences in a in outstanding positions to this day male-dominated professional field form the basis for the documentary and artistic work. This interview material and documentary footage of the rehearsal and concert routine of the interviewed musicians is interwoven into a multimedia performance/installation. The personal stories are just as much a narrative element as they are the starting point for abstract sound material for the music performance. Both image and sound levels alternate between documentation and abstraction of the material on a purely musical/visually formal-aesthetic level, which gives space for reflection on a field which is still very much determined by patriarchal patterns of thought.
The work was commissioned and produced by the Lucerne Festival and the Museum of Art Lucerne as winner of the soundz.zz.zzz prize 2016.
